As the classic film Devdas commemorates its 20th anniversary this week, it not only stands as a cinematic milestone but also marks a significant chapter in the career of singer Shreya Ghoshal. Taking to Instagram, Ghoshal penned a heartfelt message, dedicating the post to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for sculpting her into the artist she has become.

Recalling the beginning of her journey two decades ago, Ghoshal, who was not even 18 at the time, expressed the beauty and significance of the moment. She made her debut as a Hindi film playback singer in the magnum opus Devdas, providing the voice for Aishwarya Rai’s character. The singer shared the overwhelming mix of joy and nervousness as an 18-year-old watching her songs on the big screen, and she expressed eternal gratitude to her mentor Sanjay Leela Bhansali for introducing her to the world of cinema and music, shaping her into the artist she is today.

In her message, Ghoshal bowed down to her parents, acknowledging their sacrifices and hard work that played a crucial role in her journey. She expressed gratitude for the support of her fans, friends, and colleagues, considering them a beautiful family. The 38-year-old singer, who sang five songs in Devdas alongside established singers, also received a National award for her rendition of ‘Bairi Piya’ from the film.

Ghoshal, who tied the knot with childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya in 2015, welcomed their baby boy Devyaan in May 2021. On the professional front, she is set to release a new romantic track titled “Baarishein Aayi Hai,” featuring television couple Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash.
